More Jobs, More Job Seekers, More Mobile: Job Market Report July 2013

We’ve just published our latest monthly Job Market Report looking into July job seeker and employment opporunity trends.

Compared to June, July proved to be a wholly positive month for both job seekers and employers & recruiters, with advertised jobs (+23.10%), job searches (+21.85%) and job applications (+38.98%) all up. Mobile usage has also continued to rise, with mobile job applications up by +10.22%.

July challenged usual job seeker trends, with CV registrations up +4.74% compared to January when registrations were previously at their highest. This rise represents a +19.24% increase on June and shows early indications of quarterly recovery for Q3, as Q2 figures fell -9.97% compared to Q1. This drop, however, was an expected seasonal trend. Comparing Q1 vs Q2 last year, there was a drop of -9.31%.

Other findings show that jobs in administration and management are proving popular for job seekers, with administration jobs recording the highest applications-per-job-rate at 63.86. Jobs in military/emergency/government saw the largest year-on-year applications-per-job growth with +131.96%, while jobs in management saw an overall rise of +119.02%.

Commenting on the report, CV-Library Managing Director Lee Biggins said: “It’s great to see some real improvements in the UK job market. Receiving record breaking job applications and CV registrations in a summer month is virtually unheard of and demonstrates how many employment opportunities there are.

“Another highlight is the increase in mobile traffic and engagement. The recruitment industry needs to keep an eye on those behavioural trends and ensure that we’re offering job seekers what they want.”
