Our latest August Job Market Report shows that the summer months proved to be some of the busiest of the year so far, with job seeker activity and employment opportunity showing impressive year-on-year growth.
Following on from a record breaking July, August saw aggressive year-on-year growth for CV registrations (+61.65%), job searches (+101.78%) and job applications (+109.35%). The number of advertised job opportunities were also up year-on-year (+29.39%).

Strong year-on-year figures come despite a slight dip in month-on-month comparisons in which job seeker activity and job opportunity expectedly fell. Not only is August typically a slower month for the UK job market, but this year it came after a record breaking July.
Other findings show that the top five industries according to total job opportunities were engineering, IT, construction, sales and medical. The top three industries according to month-on-month increases were hospitality (+22.71%), consulting (+19.71%) and property (+6.59%). Interest in security jobs increased by 5%.
Mobile useage again proved strong, with the percentage of overall internet traffic coming via mobile devices reaching a new high of 25.99%, while the number of job applications made from a mobile device were up +256.99% year-on-year.
Commenting on the report, CV-Library Managing Director Lee Biggins said: “August’s aggressive year-on-year growth capped off a great summer that’s delivered record breaking figures. The UK job market is in a strong position then it was this time last year, which is good news for job seekers and employers and recruiters.
“It’s exciting that our mobile traffic has reached a new high. Every month, more and more job seekers go mobile with their job search making it an important part of the online recruitment drive. Developing and improving our mobile experience for users is something we’re focused on.”
